What Is Therapy?
Therapy is a word that is widely misunderstood. It can stir feelings of unease and discomfort or feelings of warmth, hopefulness, and support. I want you to feel the latter. Therapy provides a safe, confidential space in which you can process your thoughts and feelings.
As your therapist, I see myself as a helpmate on your journey of self-discovery and improvement. Therapists act as a guide through life’s current and past hardships, helping you identify problematic behaviors, beliefs, and feelings, empowering you to develop effective cognitive and emotional skills, and build upon your intrinsic strength.
The first step to healing is acknowledging that there is an injury. Therapy is NOT a magic bullet; it is hard work. There will be sessions where afterward you feel amazing, and after others, you’ll wonder what you got yourself into. That’s natural. The key is to be persistent and consistent with your care.
